Most Indian parents, even the urban ones, appear to be suffering from an acute case of divorce phobia. It’s terrifying to see them brainwash their unhappily married daughters to adjust and compromise to a life of hell, boredom or indifference. This disturbing trend of not wanting to support their child when she wants to walk out of an unhappy marriage, is everywhere. No matter how modern and liberated everyone claims to be, divorce is viewed as the ultimate failure in life which makes every other achievement seem insignificant.
Why is it that parents who bring their child up with no gender bias, instill the need to study well, be outgoing and independent suddenly act all 18th century when she wants to end a bad marriage?
Sociologist G.K. Karanth says modern parents are at cross-roads. “They bring up their daughters to be smart and well-educated because deep down they want her to grow up and marry well, as these qualifications will be a pre-requisite for certain matrimonial alliances.” But when she is growing up it is never instilled in her that marriage and not career or financial independence is the true goal. Karanth also feels the modern man wants an intelligent wife who is smart, modern and progressive, but still wants her to be mild, submissive and “yes, yes sir, three bags full” variety. His mind is ambiguous about what he truly wants. This is where problems crop up as roles, expectations and fullfillments clash.
Parents refuse to accept that problems can’t be fixed and coerce the wife to endure a bit more torture, saying all marriages face rough weather. When a well educated, pregnant girl in her late 20s complained to her father that her husband was being both physically and verbally abusive, he told her everything would be fine once the baby came along! Another mother thought her child was being ridiculous when she wanted to leave her cheating husband. “Men are like that, as long as he comes home to you and is being nice, how does it matter?”
Yes, today’s independent girl doesn’t really need parental support as she can get herself a job and be financially independent, but at such a vulnerable and difficult time she does need someone to hold her hand and tell her that she’s not alone. This is where parents are failing.
Even if the couple is simply incompatible and the girl is miserable, parents don’t want the D word mentioned.
India is still considered to be a patriarchal society and a divorced girl is looked upon secretly as a failure by most. Vineeta Shah, an emotional consultant says, “Divorce is a stigma, even if parents are supportive they are viewed as a “fast” family with no values.” Shah says it is imbibed in a girl that she has to adjust, you don’t always get everything, you need to give in more...
The poor girl is so confused that it takes a lot of strength and soul searching to say, “I will manage without anyone’s help.” If things get really bad, parents are there but they are reluctant to stand by their daughter.
If minor changes and adjustments make the relationship work, go for it. But if dialogue, communication and small compromises don’t work then the relationship is not going to work, says Shah. That’s when women need to realise that now is the time to show how independent they can be without a husband or parents to hold their hands.

Now computers become lawyers
European researchers have created a legal analysis query engine that combines artificial intelligence, game theory and semantics to offer advice, conflict prevention and dispute settlement for European law.
European law is complex, many layered and expanding. There are thousands of regulations, so many that compliance is difficult, time-consuming and expensive.
While harmonisation is underway, the process itself demands that individuals, companies and law firms often have to relearn the system.
Meanwhile, areas like intellectual property rights (IPR) and digital rights regulation that seek to combat piracy are becoming ever more complex to understand and apply consistently across Europe.
Now, the ALIS Project has developed a computerised platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI), game theory and semantic technologies to “understand” and track the regulations in a large, and expanding area of expertise — in this case IPR.
ALIS sought to develop a working system in IPR to tackle the fundamental technological challenges before expanding it to more areas later on. The system is much more than a simple database of relevant legal regulations.

Get a Cat!!
Do you have a pet? or pets? If you don't have a pet, then I suggest you search for one. Pet can be a thing which make your mind feel relax. Imagine after working all day long, you come home and sit in front of your ocean fishes in the aquarium. Imagine how relaxed that will be?! That is just an example. By having pet you can get your mind more relax so it will make your body healthier and stronger.
For me, cat is my best friend. I don't like that. People say that dog is the most greatest pet in the world, I don't think so. Cat is the cutest pet ever! I like to play with my cat so much.
There are variety of cats in the world, from the street cats, or the "higher class" cats. Both of them need extra attention from the master. If your pet is street cat then it will survived alone by itself. The higher class cats are different. It needs more attention, more food , and more toys.
Anyway, just make sure checking their health in the doctor once in a while.

Osama Claimed to be Dead
Pakistan President Asif Zardari has said that Al Qaeda chief Osama Bin Laden is dead.
“Osama bin Laden has died,” President Zardari said in an interview after competition of his one year in office.
He told the BBC, “Osama bin Laden has died and the Pakistani nation is with us (the government) against terrorists.”
Mr Zardari demanded investigation into killings in Kunduz attack, in which 70 civilian had been killed.
The President said democracy is working and we have got political responsibility. Defending the one-year performance of his government, he said Pakistani military, government and democracy could give better results and therefore, the world should extend support to Pakistan.
In reply to a question regarding “British police action” in Pakistan, Mr Zardari said he would accept the proposal “if the British police were better than Pakistan police, but our big problem is resources and if world provides us with resources then we can extend the war against Taliban to other areas.”
According to Mr Zardari, the United Nations and other international organisations are present in Afghanistan and they had in the past conducted investigations in such events.
Regarding rigging allegations in Afghan elections, he said the allegations are being reviewed, however, he supported Hamid Karzai and hoped to attend his oath-taking ceremony.
In a separate interview with the Financial Times, President Zardari rejected the Obama administration’s strategy of linking policy on Pakistan and Afghanistan in an effort to end a Taliban insurgency.
